Dragon Ball Super announced at Dragon Ball Genkidama Festival
The Dragon Ball Super presentation was held during the first part of the Genkida Festival event, and Masako Nozawa, long-time voice actor for Son Goku, and Dragon Ball producer Akio Iyoku appeared on stage. Their presence showed the significance of the announcement that confirmed that Dragon Ball Super would resume with a direct continuation of the anime’s storyline.
The upcoming series will follow the events of the Space Survival arc, which originally aired from 2015 to 2018. “This is a story that follows the ‘Space Survival Arc’ of the anime Dragon Ball Super, which aired from 2015 to 2018,” the official Dragon Ball website states.
Dragon Ball Super: Galaxy Patrol Arc, anime adaptation of manga story
The new anime is being teased as Dragon Ball Super: Galactic Patrol, which will focus on Goku and Vegeta working together with the galactic peacekeeping organization, Galactic Patrol. This arc introduces a new antagonist, Moro, an energy-absorbing wizard known as the “Planet Eater.”
According to the new Dragon Ball Super official synopsis, “Dragon Ball Super: Galaxy Patrol” has been officially confirmed for production, but the release date has not yet been announced.
Producer confirms anime adaptation is in progress
During the event, producer Akio Iyoku told fans, “It has been decided that this story based on the comic will be made into an anime.” Masako Nozawa also confirmed that she will return as the voice of Goku, hinting at the continuation of the original anime cast.
This announcement was widely welcomed by fans, many of whom have been waiting for years for an anime version of the Galactic Patrol Prisoners arc.
