Trump also claimed on Sunday that several countries, including India, are expected to start importing oil from Venezuela, which has the world’s largest oil reserves. He said the move follows a change in Venezuela’s law that opened its oil sector to private investment after the United States detained President Nicolás Maduro on January 3.India and the US have been conducting trade talks since March 2025. Since August last year, the US has imposed a hefty 50% tariff on Indian exports, the highest applicable to any country, consisting of a 25% reciprocal duty and a 25% surcharge.
