Hyundai Bayon has distinct European styling that helps it stand out in India’s highly competitive sub-4 meter SUV segment.
hyundai is testing the second-generation Bayon subcompact crossover SUV, which is expected to be launched in India later this year. In recent months, test mules have been spotted frequently in heavy camouflage. Based on spy shots, digital renderings provide a clear view of what the updated version will look like in production-ready form. Let’s check the details.
Real-world rendering of the new Bayon
As evidenced by the renderings, the new Bayon has a more sophisticated design. The front fascia has a fresh new look with more sophisticated lighting elements and more elegantly crafted grille and bumper sections. Some elements, such as the full-width strip at the front, seem to be inspired by the Kona.
However, the lighting is only at the end with LED DRLs and turn signals. The center section appears to be a plastic trim with a glossy black finish. Moving to the sides, we see smooth curves in the panels, ensuring an elegant and orderly look. The windshield pillars appear to have a steeper angle of inclination, reinforcing the sportiness of the SUV.
The new Bayon focuses on refinement, but you’ll also find some rugged flavor, as evidenced by the muscular wheel arches and thick body cladding. A new set of aluminum wheels is expected on the new model. Other key features seen in the renderings include traditional door handles with a body-color finish, a gently sloping roofline, silver-finished roof rails, and a shark fin antenna.
Key features at the rear include sleek interconnecting taillights, a sloping windshield and a robust bumper design. Hyundai also plans to introduce N line version New Bayon’s. Special features include unique details in gloss black finish and distinctive alloy wheels measuring up to 18 inches.
New equipment and powertrain options
The upcoming 2nd generation Bayon will also have various updates under the hood. It is likely to include dual 12.3-inch screens for the infotainment and instrument cluster. Hyundai will also focus on strengthening the safety package. Multiple new safety features can be added beyond those legally required.
Other features include a sunroof, auto-dimming IRVM, auto climate control, and rear AC vents. Across global markets, the new Bayon is expected to be equipped with a new generation of engines. Powertrain options available on existing models include a 48-volt mild hybrid setup.
At the moment, the main engine offered in the existing Bayon is a 1.0-liter three-cylinder turbo petrol engine. The top model of the new Bayon may be equipped with a 1.6-liter four-cylinder unit. At a later date, the new Bayon may also be offered with an electric powertrain.
In India, the second-generation Bayon is expected to be positioned as a sub-4 meter SUV. The overall length of the current model sold in Europe is 4,180mm. Engine options for India are likely to include a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol unit and a 1.0-litre turbo petrol engine. Hyundai Bayon in India is mainly multi-phronx.
