OSP is an ability that allows you to exchange or change gadgets such as grenades by collecting the pouches that fall from fallen operators. In the beginning, you only need one device for everything, but being able to change gadgets depending on the situation is attractive.
When you pick up a pouch, it’s interesting to move forward as if you were picking up an item from Metal Gear Solid.

After using it, I felt that it had a strong snake-like feel. Gadgets, abilities, and sound effects make me think, “Huh, it’s Siege, right?” The soliton radar can clear within its range, so it seems like it will be a pretty powerful gadget if the user uses it. The same goes for OSP.

From an artist’s standpoint, I’m looking forward to hearing from you. Snake this time is not an anonymous guest character. We supervised it in great detail to ensure it perfectly matched the worldview of R6S.
Rather than just making it look realistic, we maintained the iconic lines that you can intuitively tell that it’s a snake just by looking at its silhouette, while blending in with the texture of the R6S’s devices and equipment. I feel that Snake has been created as a “legislator” who doesn’t feel out of place alongside other operators.

I looked at the in-game profile settings, and was surprised at how well they blended into the Rainbow world.

When we have our characters appear in a competition’s IP, what we do most is “emphasize the creativity and worldview that is important to the other party.”
Fortunately, Ubisoft’s development team did a lot of research into Metal Gear, and there were almost no major NGs.

Could you tell us how you decided to collaborate with Snake?

Mr. Mills:
After introducing Zero (Sam Fisher) into the game, we thought about collaborating with other IPs and came up with the idea of ​​Snake. Perhaps that was a natural relationship between Sam and Snake.
When I approached KONAMI about Snake, they readily agreed, saying, “Let’s do it!” KONAMI provided many resources to make this possible.

4Gamer:
Solid Snake and Sam Fisher each have brief scenes with each other in the games they appear in.

Mr. Mills:
If anything, I think this is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for this team’s prospects.

The fact that we were able to make that a reality in the form of this collaboration. Rebuild Solid Snake in the world of Rainbow Six and depict their relationship. Zero is making a phone call. Ask an old friend to help you with a specific assignment. Being able to give it shape is like a dream to fight for.

Did you have any difficulties introducing Snake into your game?

However, as a practical matter, it didn’t fit into Siege’s worldview. This was an important and difficult challenge, as we had every part of the operator identify elements of Metal Gear and Solid Snake, while working with the Siege universe.

However, our operator development team came up with ideas with great passion, and the prototype was completed very quickly.
Initially, we considered these as two separate prototypes, but we decided, “No, we should have both,” and in the end it was a very natural form.

You must have put a lot of thought and effort into making the Soliton Radar MKIII function as your main gadget. The most important part was developing ideas and figuring out which elements fit into the Siege worldview.

Mr. Mills:
There, this is a “reconstruction” of Solid Snake in the world of “Rainbow Six”.

Importantly, Siege players know every little detail of the map.
We considered adding features such as advanced optical camouflage, but in the end the core system of the game was broken.
We are prepared to make a statement to our operators: “Our eyes don’t lie.” Sci-fi style camouflage that is completely transparent cannot be used.

However, “gadgets are allowed to lie”. Cameras and electronic devices can disappear from the camera, and Knock and Vigil can disappear from the camera.
If there’s cardboard on the map, players will instantly find it and crush it.
