The Canadian team hasn’t had much rest.
Canada’s men’s hockey team opened Olympic competition more than 24 hours ago, with Canada returning to play against Switzerland on Friday.
That led to multiple changes to the lineup.
Goaltender Jordan Binnington, who earned a shutout on Thursday, wasn’t even wearing any clothes.
Brad Marchand isn’t there either.

Why isn’t Brad Marchand playing today?
Marchand is just resting.
Looks like Josh Morrissey will be out tonight.
Brad Marchand is also resting.
Seth Jarvis and Travis Sanheim will both compete. Two goaltenders, Logan Thompson and Darcy Kuemper, are dressed for Canada.

Marchand, 37, is crucial to Canada’s chances of winning gold. But in the second game of preliminary action, there is no reason to take risks.
This is not an unheard of scenario, as NHL players play back-to-back.
But by sitting Marchand, Canada gives Jarvis his first Olympic appearance, which is a nice bonus.
I’m sure Marchand will be back soon. For now, he can recharge and gear up for his much-anticipated medal win.
