Police charge two people in bid to crack down on Sydney’s ‘coconut cartel’

Two men have been charged in connection with a police raid squad working to bust the self-proclaimed Coconut Cartel. sydney.

Strike Force Helston was established to quell violence and investigate suspected threats and incidents related to the Syndicate.

At around 5am on Wednesday, January 21st, emergency services were called to Randolph Street, Guildford, following reports of a car fire.

When police arrived, they found a Toyota SUV on fire.

Firefighters extinguished the fire and no one was injured.

Police said a cardboard sign that read “Coconut Cartel” was left on the car.

At approximately 6:30 p.m., police executed a search warrant in the Dacey Building and seized registration plates, a jerry can, a replica pistol and 13 cell phones, one of which was allegedly a Dedicated Encrypted Criminal Communication Device (DECCD).

A 24-year-old man was arrested and charged with multiple weapons offences, criminal damage to property, possession of suspected stolen property and participating in a criminal group.

He remains in custody and is scheduled to next appear in court today.

Police arrested a 19-year-old man in Silverwater at around 11am yesterday.

He was charged with criminal damage and participating in a criminal group.

He is scheduled to appear in court again today.
