There are four years left until the 2030 Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games are held, but preparations have already begun in the French Alps, where they will be held.
The French Alps 2030 Organizing Committee shared its vision and ongoing plans for the next Winter Games ahead of the start of the 2026 Olympic Games in Milan.
Committee chairman and former Olympic ski champion Edgar Grospiron said their goal was to “maintain the pioneering spirit that has always driven the organization of the Olympic and Paralympic Games in France.”
“Our mountains must reinvent themselves to meet the challenges of our time,” he said. “Supporting, anticipating and responding to change, climate change and the evolution of sport, as well as other aspirations of new generations.”

The Committee also pointed to the Milan 2026 Games as a model for holding widespread Games in different regions.

“We will create an Olympic and Paralympic Games 2030 rooted in France and the French Alps, open to the world, open to the mountains, respectful of our great territory, widening our horizons, innovative and pushing boundaries, with the desire to explore new sensations and create new horizons,” Grosspiron said.
