Just 30 seconds from start their season openerMcDonald was knocked out after stepping into Hopgood’s tackle, and Hopgood also appeared to be hit in the head with the unfortunate tackle.

On Thursday, Michael Ennis observed that the contact started with a late step by McDonald just before the line.

“It’s a close contact. He’s in big trouble,” Ennis said on Fox League.

“It was a moment, we just saw tough-as-nails Alec MacDonald completely lose Alec MacDonald, who was slow to move.

“He took a step at the last minute and fell onto Jemaine Hopgood’s shoulders there.”

But Andrew Voss doesn’t believe Hopgood had any intention with the high shot.

“McDonald was out and Hopgood stumbled away,” Voss added.

“This is interesting because I think Hopgood should go to HIA as well.

“Even if Hopgood could somehow prove intent, I can’t do it.”
