A 90-year-old LA man was scammed out of more than $800,000 in life savings.

Irving Rosenberg, 90, who has trouble hearing, walking and sometimes memory, said the fraudulent withdrawals from his account began last April and quickly wiped out nearly everything he had saved. ABC7 Eyewitness News reported.

“I was angry and frustrated,” Rosenberg told ABC7. “I spent all the money I had saved in my life. … I was hurt.”

It was only after the news network’s investigative arm, 7 On Your Side, intervened that the bank agreed to pay.

The checks that came out of Rosenberg’s account were not his, and his family reported the fraud. wells fargoABC7 said it initially closed its doors, citing strict 60-day reporting rules.

But ABC7 investigators put pressure on the financial institutions, and Rosenberg’s funds were eventually returned.

Wells Fargo said in a statement that it returned the elderly man’s money and continues to make fraud prevention a top priority.

“After working with our customers and their designated powers of attorney and considering additional information, we are pleased to share that we will be returning Mr. Rosenberg’s funds to his account,” Wells Fargo’s statement read, according to ABC7.

“Fraud prevention remains our top priority and we encourage all customers to review their statements each month and immediately report anything suspicious so we can act quickly to protect our customers.”
