Great Britain 2-1 Canada
Bruce Moore needs to round out this end for GB.
He pulled the first stone behind the Canadian guard, making it difficult for Jacobs to move.
Instead, the Canadian skip red-targeted the right side, leaving Muat with a free shot and scoring two points.
It’s an easy draw and Moore makes it. Britain takes the lead.

Hardy’s second stone is sent to the right side of the sheet, leaving the stone in the house away from the other reds.
It gives GB a slight advantage and a chance to pick up two points at this end.
Jacobs’ first stone removed the red to the left of the house and he spun across to try to hit the second red as well, but to no avail.

Team GB’s Grant Hardy is tasked with knocking both yellows out of the house.
He takes the shot! With a slight hit on the nose, the first yellow spun around to join the second, and both slid out of the house, forcing his red behind the guard as well.
Mark Kennedy’s reaction is to force the Red Guard into the house. He did it successfully, but GB still lies proud.

Bobby Ramey made a nice takeaway to remove the Canadian center guard and also took the yellow.
Canada removes England’s red in the house, but Lamy removes its yellow again and sits closest to center.

Jacobs’ top work minimizes damage in the first end.
He draws from the left and nestles over the nearest red, which means Canada gets the point.
There was constant pressure from Team GB in that regard, but Canada’s hammer always meant it was difficult to steal.
Conceding one point was probably the best option.

The crowd inside the stadium is distorting the British.
GB has been playing with a fifth man since the start. The crowd inside Cortina Stadium skews British and is certainly much louder than their Canadian counterparts.
I’m not sure how helpful the chant will be, but so far: a lot “Let’s go GB, let’s go” and the slightly more original “We like to Mouat, Mouat”.

Muat wants to remove the yellow one on the right side of the house and leave the three red stones in place.
Canada may be forced to settle for just one as a result.

Canadian skip Brad Jacobs will hold the final stone at this end.
First he needs to deal with Muat’s first stone. He looks determined and aims for a draw from the right side.
He hit Muat’s red, but Team GB got two.

Both teams will be looking to get the upper hand on each other, with Grant Hardy and Mark Kennedy drawing from either side of the seat to fill the venue.
Canada lie one-up and there is a shot that could see Bruce Moore curl in from the left and force one of the red balls onto the sitting stone.
That’s the shot he tried to make…and he made it!
Not only that, he also touched the second yellow away from the center of the house.
