Manager Mikel Arteta has provided an update on the fitness of his first-team squad ahead of Sunday’s north London derby against Tottenham.
The manager was asked about the possibility of the midfield duo of Martin Odegaard and Kai Havertz returning to the team after missing the last two games.
“Well, I’ll have to wait until tomorrow, but there’s a good chance I’ll be able to play,” Mikel said Friday at the Sober Realty Training Center.
There was further positive news regarding Leandro Trossard, with manager Mikel saying the winger would be fit for Sunday’s derby despite being forced off injured late in the 2-2 draw with Wolves.
Like Leo, Bukayo Saka was also sent off in the second half against Molineux. However, our number seven will make his first appearance since signing a new contract during a short trip to Spurs.

Regarding Bukayo’s new contract, the manager said: “The news about Bukayo is of course great. He’s one of us,” and “I’m very happy that the players feel so strongly about the club.”
“We’ve had him here since he was very young and I think it’s a really positive thing for him to make that decision and for the club to be so aligned with him.”
Mikel was asked about the possibility of using both players in the number 10 position, as Bukayo and Kai could be available at the same time.
The coach was positive about the idea, but cautioned against allowing players who played on the sideline to easily return to the fold.
“It is possible. It also depends on the ability of the players in terms of the load that we can absorb.
“Bukayo was fine to start (against Wolves), but we knew he couldn’t finish the game so we had to take him off.
“He’s going to get cramps or start taking risks with his last injury and we didn’t want that. So it’s up to how much we can use them depending on how well the players are.”
