Collaborations between watch brands and lifestyle events happen so often that some have become commonplace, and some feel like a natural consistency. Gumball 3000 is one of them.. Since its inception in 1999, the 3,000 Mile Rally has become an emotional platform for performance, personality and spectacle (literally) rather than traditional competition. This year, 100 selected cars were scheduled to arrive in Mexico City from Miami via Amelia Island, New Orleans, Austin, Monterrey and San Miguel de Allende. The watch is presented in a 43mm black DLC-coated titanium case with a satin finish, and the side components are also made of black DLC. Titanium keeps the watch wearable despite its size. The case features sapphire crystals on both sides, and the open case back is secured by a DLC titanium frame. An orange personalized side plate engraved with an individual serial number connects the watch to its rallying context. Unlike the previous freak model, freak x uses a traditional crown for winding and setting the time, making it easier to operate while retaining the concept. Water resistance is rated at 50m, similar to other Freak X models.

Like all Freak watches, there is no traditional dial. Shows time by movement. Hours are indicated by a rotating time disc that rotates once every 12 hours, and minutes are indicated by a carousel that rotates once every hour.

In this Edition 2, the hour disc is made of carbonium, an aerospace-grade carbon fiber-derived composite material, here injected with orange epoxy resin. What we’re looking at is a very irregular three-dimensional texture. For the first time in this series, the minute wheel is edged with orange Super-LumiNova ring, while the indices and bridges are treated with white Super-LumiNova to improve visibility in low light. The black, white, and orange color scheme references the visual code of Gumball 3000, but has been functionally applied to improve contrast and readability.

Powering the watch is the Manufacture Caliber UN-230, a specially developed automatic movement. freak x. It features a flying carousel structure without an upper bridge, an oversized silicone balance wheel, a silicone escape wheel and anchor, and a silicone balance spring. This movement operates at 21,600 vph and offers a 72-hour power reserve.

The watch is fitted with a black rubber strap featuring orange inserts and stitching, and is closed with a black DLC titanium folding clasp.
