Bentley releases limited edition model Bentayga In Japan, it has been hailed as the most “feminine” luxury SUV ever, and production is limited to just 10 units.
The Bentayga Something Blue collection created by Mulliner is inspired by the traditional wedding rhyme “something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue”, a motif that is strangely popular in Japan.
Calm blue styling
Mariner opted for restraint rather than overt style cues.
The SUV is finished in metallic Ice, a white shade with subtle blue hues visible depending on the light. It rides on 22-inch silver alloy wheels, and the brake calipers are the same color as the exterior.
The inside has subtle blue detailing.
The seatbacks feature blue Bentley embroidery and a delicate blue floral motif appears across the dashboard.
The rest of the cabin is a combination of linen and graphite gray leather, which extends to the steering wheel, door tops and center console.
Custom-made scuff plates feature ‘Something Blue Collection’ plates marking each of the 10 vehicles.
The special edition was shown at Ooyane Plaza in Tokyo. Prices start from 34 million yen, or approximately NZD 366,000 at current exchange rates, and some of the allocated vehicles have already been booked.
Familiar V8 performance
Mechanically, the Something Blue Bentayga retains the standard 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8. Power output is 404kW and 770Nm, delivered between 2000rpm and 4500rpm.
Bentley claims a 0-100km/h time of 4.5 seconds and a top speed of 290km/h, which is the same as the regular V8 model.
The theme may be wedding-inspired, but the performance track record is firmly in line with Bentayga’s extensive range. The changes here are aesthetic rather than mechanical, providing a tailored finish for buyers seeking exclusivity in carefully measured doses.
