Live updates: President Trump warns of more US casualties in war with Iran, Hezbollah joins conflict

Bahrain’s senior security adviser told CNN that the series of attacks launched by Iran in retaliation for the killing of Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei proves the level of threat posed by Tehran.

“The recent missile attacks only strengthen our long-standing assessment of the nature of the threat emanating from the Tehran regime,” the adviser told CNN.

The adviser said Bahrain has had “decades of Iranian interference, subversion and support for terrorism.”

“We know the strategy. We have dismantled networks, exposed funding channels, and confronted head-on the destabilizing efforts of Iran’s regional proxies,” he said, adding that “Bahrain, with the support of our allies and friends, will remain steadfast, resilient and uncompromising in defending our national security interests.”

A senior Bahraini official told CNN that the country’s national security is “inseparable” from that of the rest of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC).

“The attack on Bahrain is not an isolated act, but an attack on the overall stability of the GCC and the broader international order that protects maritime navigation and regional security. Iran’s reckless missile adventurism will not change Bahrain’s strategic posture,” the official said.

Earlier, the GCC held an emergency virtual meeting where member states condemned Iran’s “blatant and unprovoked attack”.

Last weekend, Iranian missiles rocked Bahrain’s capital Manama, striking near the country’s US naval base.
