The All Black Sevens squad will go into the World Sevens Series against New York and Vancouver without head coach Tomasi Kama.

New Zealand Rugby announced on Tuesday that Kama would not depart with the squad, which departs today, due to visa issues.

“The team has been advised that his visa application will not be processed in time to travel with the team departing New Zealand today.”

Cama was appointed head coach of the All Black Sevens in August 2023 after a successful career on the field.

He played in 128 tournaments for New Zealand and won the World Rugby Sevens Player of the Year award in 2012.

NZR has announced that assistant coach Willie Rickards will take on the head coaching role for the two tournaments as assistant to Scott Currie.

The Vancouver Games will be held from March 7th to 8th, followed by the New York Games from March 14th to 15th.
