LOS ANGELES — Luka Doncic had 28 points and nine assists and LeBron James added 24 points. The Los Angeles Lakers ended their streak with a 128-104 win over the Sacramento Kings on Sunday night.
Austin Reeves scored 12 points for the Lakers, and the Lakers also won. Saturday at Golden State It ended a three-game losing streak. After a week of lackluster play following the All-Star break, Los Angeles bounced back over the weekend, defeating its two Northern California rivals by a combined 52 points.
Doncic made four 3-pointers while the NBA’s leading scorer played only the first three quarters, while James, Marcus Smart and Luke Kennard each made three 3-pointers. The Lakers made 17 of their first 33 3-pointers while their starters were still playing, setting a franchise record for 3-point shooting percentage by making 18 of 39.
James, 41, made two rim-shaking dunks and celebrated enthusiastically during the Lakers’ easy victory. The Lakers never trailed again after Sacramento scored the first goal of the game.
Neek Clifford scored 26 points for the Kings, who lost their fourth straight game at the Lakers’ downtown arena. Russell Westbrook scored 14 points against his old team in his hometown.
Sacramento, the worst team in the NBA, has lost 18 of 20 games.
Deandre Ayton scored 12 points on 6-of-6 shooting for the Lakers, who opened up a 22-point lead at the half.
Doncic, Reaves and Ayton all took the fourth quarter off to rest because they have four games in the next seven days. Los Angeles is still in the beginning of a five-week stretch and there are no holidays.
