Exploring Higgsfield AI: New Lesson on “Ethical AI Videos for Filmmakers” Available

Every month, every week, or even every day, something new emerges in the world of AI. With that in mind, our “Directing the Future: Ethical AI Video for Filmmakers” course in MZed It received a new update in February. In the new module, director of photography and professional photographer. Drew Geraci is exploring Higgsfield AI, an all-in-one artificial intelligence platform for image and video generation. Why specifically this tool and what demos await you in the bonus lesson? Find out below!

In the previous update, Drew took a look at Sora 2 by OpenAI and demonstrated several ways it can be used. Generally, the goal of their course is to find ethical ways to integrate generative video models into filmmaking workflows (and inform people about their current capabilities). This is particularly important because, due to the rapid evolution of these tools, the ethical line may be crossed more frequently. (Read here about the recent controversy surrounding a viral AI fight between Tom Cruise and Brad Pitt, for example.)

Exploring Higgsfield AI: what is it?

In our new module releasedDrew Geraci shifts his focus to Higgsfield AIa relatively new platform that brings together multiple AI models and creative tools into a single interface. You may have heard of it as there have been a lot of rumors among influencers and content creators. So what’s so special about this tool? Instead of working with a single generative AI model, Higgsfield acts more like an ecosystem. Within it, users can generate or edit videos, turn sketches into short clips, create custom avatars for UGC (short for “user generated content”), swap characters in existing images, relight scenes, add sound elements, etc.

According to Drew, it’s probably the most extensive AI platform he’s experimented with so far. The variety of built-in functions and models allows users to explore different workflows and compare results directly. It’s also an expensive solution, but we’ll get to pricing in a moment.

What is the new module about?

The new lesson primarily functions as a guided exploration of the Higgsfield AI interface and its capabilities for filmmakers. Drew discusses various platform tools and demonstrates how they could be useful for pre-production, pre-visualization, or concept development. Among the tools and features shown are:

  • Film studio 2.0 – to generate frames for forecasting and communicating ideas, with advanced controls such as shot size, camera type, lens selection, aperture settings, to name a few.
  • Kling 3.0 multi-shot generation – to create short sequences (up to three shots) with custom prompts and a defined duration of each clip (up to 15 seconds).
  • Use element consistency tools – to add specific characters, backgrounds, or objects that can remain consistent throughout a sequence (or so the platform tries to do).
  • Touching the relighting and titling tools
  • Animate still images and make interesting transitions between them by defining start and end frames

By showing the results of Drew’s experiments so far, the goal of the lesson is not so much to master a single feature as to get an overview of how such a platform could potentially support creative workflows.

Why Higgsfield AI?

Previous course modules explored individual AI video generators, such as Google I see 3. Drew has combined model productions with live action imagery and traditional post-production tools such as Adobe After Effects. Testing Higgsfield AI represents a slightly different approach. Because?

Let’s take the already mentioned video generator, kling 3.0For example. Drew finds that he achieves very realistic results. However, at the moment it also has some practical limitations. In Drew’s experience, generating a single 15-second clip can take anywhere from 20 minutes to an hour. In one of their tests, producing a sequence of nine shots took about four hours in total, which is clearly too slow for most fast-paced creative and experimental tasks.

The advantage of an all-in-one platform over a single tool is that it allows you to switch between the available models: Kling 3.0, Google Veo 3.1, Grok, Sora and others. So if one server is overloaded and down, you can switch to another model and be done with it. Plus, if you have access to most modern tools at once, you’ll be able to closely watch how they evolve.

Higgsfield AI currently offers subscription access, which is not cheap by any means. But if it fits your goals, there are promotional packages. For example, the two-year plan of about $1,000 includes 6,000 monthly credits to generate content, which is more than enough. However, as Drew emphasizes, the course itself is not sponsored by Higgsfield, so he will highlight its disadvantages along with its benefits.

ethical questions

Like the rest of the course, this module also addresses the broader implications of generative video tools. While new opportunities are emerging, there is also growing concern about how these tools already impact existing jobs and workflows in film and multimedia production.

For Drew, the key idea behind the course remains the same: understand the tools, test them responsibly, and discuss how (and if) they can be used ethically in filmmaking.
