This new Apple Intelligence feature in iOS 26 might be one of my favorites ever

It’s been half a year since then iOS 26 debuts It’s still in beta, so we’ve spent a lot of time developing it. Releases with major redesigns like this tend to overshadow some of the smaller additions, but after trying iOS 26, I really liked one fundamental feature in particular. It has to do with screenshots.

iOS 26 brings a major visual overhaul to screenshots across the board, adding a completely new interface. Three new Apple Intelligence features: Create calendar events with screenshots, image search to find web results, and ability to ask ChatGPT about screenshots.

Visual intelligence for calendar events

One of the most useful features I’ve found in iOS 26 is the first. Ability to create calendar events using screenshots.

I’ve never been the type to put too much emphasis on calendars. I keep a calendar widget on my home screen for when calendar invites are shared, but I’ve never really liked creating calendar events for myself.

In general, I preferred to rely on reminders, to-do apps (Todoist), and pure memory. But things have changed with iOS 26.

Now that I can add things to my calendar as easily as taking a screenshot, I’ve started using it for more things. It was especially useful during CES as there were a lot of different events going on.

I also found this feature to work very well. I’ve yet to see an example where taking a screenshot of an Instagram story, email, or website doesn’t extract the relevant details and turn it into a calendar event.

Just take a screenshot and tap the little Add to Calendar button at the bottom. Just read the details and then add it. It’s really simple.
