PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) — The identity of the teenage boy found shot to death in the bathroom of a Chipotle restaurant near the Temple University campus has been identified.

philadelphia police Tuesday morning, the victim was identified as Kyon Smith Tate, 16, of the 2500 block of North Hutchinson Street.

Police are also searching for three suspects, all of whom are believed to be between 16 and 17 years old.

No arrests have been made.

The discovery was made Monday at the Chipotle in the 1100 block of Montgomery Avenue around 5:15 p.m. North Philadelphia.

The boy, who had been shot in the chest, was found by a restaurant employee, police said.

“We have information that the 16-year-old victim was inside with at least one other juvenile male. They asked for a key to the bathroom, where they both entered,” said Chief Inspector Scott Small of the Philadelphia Police Department.

According to police, the victim was pronounced dead in the bathroom.

“Not only did we find the victim in the bathroom, we also found a spent shell casing, indicating that at least one shot was fired from a semi-automatic rifle,” Small added.

It was my first day back from winter break at Temple University. Police say the Chipotle was very crowded at the time of the shooting.

“A lot of students eat here. Chipotle draws a lot of people,” Temple senior Chikondi Rose said.

“The loss of life due to gun violence is a profound tragedy, and there are no words that can capture it. Our thoughts are with the families and loved ones of the victims,” ​​Temple University said in a statement.
