Chicago Fire’s #Stellaride faces a parenting crisis – can their marriage survive?

Just when you think one Chicago Fire crisis is over, another begins.

last week, Severide almost died from arson. Meanwhile, Stella was out in Ohio with Isaiah. This week, the NBC drama presents Stella and Severide with an even bigger challenge. That is, they will lose Isaiah.

Isaiah’s mother’s condition has improved and she is now able to make decisions about her son’s care. She knows Stella and Severide have stepped in as foster parents, but she would rather have Isaiah cared for by a familiar face. She asks Isaiah to live with Lydia, a close friend of the family. Isaiah had known Lydia since they were younger, but they hadn’t seen each other in years. At first, I was worried about the change, but when she came to visit, it was as if no time had passed.

Meanwhile, Severide is too busy tracking down the arsonist to be involved in this transition, despite being removed from the investigation. By the time he returns home and finds out that Isaiah is leaving, he becomes very upset and takes his anger out on Stella. He blames Severide for allowing this to happen, while Stella blames Severide for leaving all the child-rearing to him.

The episode ends with the two grieving the death separately. Stella says she has business at the fire station, while Severide stays alone in Isaiah’s empty bedroom. Later, Severide goes to the hospital to visit Van Meter, who is fighting for his life, and breaks down in tears.

Will Severide and Stella be able to get through this difficult time together? Will their hopes of starting a family crumble again? Please share your thoughts on “Chicago Fire” in the comments section!
