Doorbell camera records sonic boom heard over Norwich

A doorbell camera captured the moment a sonic boom was heard over Norfolk and Suffolk, and another video showed a man startled by the sound.

David Shenton was filming himself to promote an event at the Norwich Arts Center when a boom suddenly interrupted his recording.

People described an explosion-like sound and the building shaking during the incident at around 16:30 GMT on January 12.

The Ministry of Defense (MoD) said no RAF alert was in place in the area and RAF Typhoon was not deployed. The United States Air Force (USAF) has been contacted for comment.

Supersonic flight over land is rare and only permitted in exceptional circumstances.
