Mr. Ati Dridel G. Rosanes, Chairman of the Resource Generation Committee, will give a welcome address.
On January 21, 2026, the CPU Resource Generation Committee hosted an awards ceremony for the recently concluded songwriting and jingle composition contest for the following themes: “Building Together, A Journey to Excellence” It was held in the conference room of Rex D. Drilon Hall.
The program began with an opening prayer by Atty. Following the opening remarks by Liza Lyn Garcia, Associate Dean of the CPU-College of Law, Atty gave a welcome address. Dridel G. Rosanes, Chairman of the Resource Generation Committee and Vice-Chairman of the CPU Board of Directors. On behalf of the committee, she emphasized that the competition is a celebration of the Centralian community and champions excellence and collaboration. She further said that the songwriting contest received 14 entries and the jingle writing contest received only one entry, adding that all entries passed through AI checkers such as Turnitin and GPTZero and were judged for transparency, originality and excellence.
She concluded by saying that the contest aims to convey the following message: “We don’t just build walls and structures, we also build trust, talent and a culture of excellence.”
The winner of the contest was Jeremiah Jude Panes’ “Journey” which came in third place. He said his songs center around never being embarrassed and always looking forward. Second place went to Alyssa Dine L. Jimotia’s song “Centralian Days.” She said the song was inspired by a trip to Central that brought back memories of long walks on the Centennial Walkway and the infamous “Waterfall,” adding that the song was also a testament to her recent passing of the nursing license exam. First place honors went to Engr. Rodney C. Gicana is a CPU alumnus and former dean of the CPU College of Computer Studies, currently based in Toronto, Canada. His song, titled “We Can Build Again,” emphasizes that we should never forget where we come from, adding that the inspiration for his song was CPUs built on “a foundation that is the grace of God.”

After receiving the award, Mr. Atty. Mr. Nestlé G. Tara of the Resource Generation Secretariat spoke about the need to continue the resource generation campaign for the construction of new halls in the Faculty of Law and Medicine.
Dr. Esther Rose Lomarate, Vice President for Student Affairs and Officer in Charge of the Office of the President, expressed her surprise and joy in a message of gratitude, adding that it was not only the older generation who participated in the competition, but the younger generation of Centralians were also keen to participate. She added that we already know and remember the old Central songs and that these new songs are now the next step in CPU’s evolution. She concluded by thanking God and the participants for sharing their time and talents for this contest.
The program then concluded with a prayer from Dr. Diadem Pearl S. Equinha, Associate Dean of the Faculty of Medicine.
When Dr. Castigador of the RGC Management Support Committee was asked for comment, she said: “We are grateful to see the talent and passion of our students and alumni expressed about CPU and what it stands for. The efforts of this fundraising campaign are expected to have an impact that will reach future generations of Central residents and those beyond the walls of CPU.”
Atty. Rosanes added: “These songs will be used by the university and committee in fundraising activities. The committee hopes that the construction of this new hall will address the challenges facing the university, particularly the lack of classrooms.”
