People undergoing kidney dialysis are always at high risk of heart attack, stroke, and sudden cardiac death.
Despite careful medical management, options to prevent these emergencies remain limited, and clinicians have few tools to reliably reduce cardiovascular risk.
A large-scale new clinical trial suggests that a simple daily supplement may help fill that gap.
Researchers report that high doses of fish oil significantly lowered the risk of serious heart-related events in people undergoing long-term dialysis. This is a much larger effect than typically seen in past supplement studies.
