The release of GIMP 3.2 is coming soon, but tonight GIMP 3.0.8 may be the final set of bug fixes for GIMP 3.0.
GIMP 3.0.8 backports changes originally found in GIMP 3.2 that speed up font loading. GIMP 3.0.8 improves font loading performance at startup when using a large number of fonts.
GIMP 3.0.8 also includes other fixes such as WebP export, Windows and macOS-specific issues, improvements to the SVG import code, several theme and UX fixes, and some security fixes. As usual in the GIMP world, security fixes center around file format plugins.
For developers, there are also some new APIs backported from GIMP 3.2 to GIMP 3.0.8.
For more information about the many fixes and other changes in GIMP 3.0.8, please see the following links: GIMP.org. Upstream Linux builds of GIMP are still available in AppImage, Flatpak, and Snap formats.
GIMP developers are currently working on addressing the last few issues before starting the GIMP 3.2 release series.
