In the same interview with Fandango, Elordi explained why he watched Robbie so closely on set.

“Look at how she drinks her tea, how she eats her food, how she does it. When does it slip away? When does it go back up? And it never comes back up,” he continued. “She’s like an elite actor and she’s producing movies, right? So I don’t know how someone can do that as a performer and have the skill and wisdom to act like she does, but I fell in love with her.”

Elordi said the two truly felt like they were part of a love story.

Elordi told Fandango that the two actors really came together in their roles.

“There was a moment where we were running through the moor hand in hand, probably even in preparation for the scene, and I really realized that I was looking across at her and she was looking at me and you were looking at Catherine and she was looking at Heathcliff. And in that moment we were really part of their love, in the true sense of the word,” he explained. “There were some moments like that.”

Elordi added: “You could almost imagine this spirit of love that Bronte created floating around. It really felt like we were holding on to a little piece of unrequited love.”

The two hated filming when the other was not on set.
