John Bishop remembers the first joke he ever told as a comedian. It happened on a weekday evening in Manchester in October 2000, and there were probably six or seven people in attendance.
Bishop, then a pharmaceutical sales manager, put his name in a hat for open mic nights at the Frog and Bucket Comedy Club.
