While the wealthy are living healthier lifestyles, the less wealthy have fewer safe spaces for physical activity and increased exposure to junk food, with Ireland on track to become the fattest country in Europe.

The statistics don’t lie – Ireland is becoming healthier. We are living longer, drinking less alcohol and increasing our self-reported health.

On a more anecdotal level, our social media feeds are ablaze with people we know running marathons or competing in Hyrox or Tryka fitness events that involve running or high-intensity exercise. It’s between a sea bath and a sauna session.
