Chad Franke is opening up more details about his current relationship with his mother, Ruby Franke.

“Mom, shut up! Shut up! You’ve been cut off!” the user can be heard saying in the sound, which tends to reflect on how the creator was annoyed by the actions of his mother or parents.

In Chad’s video, he lip-syncs to the sound and the text above the video reads, “Every time I get a letter from my mom in prison.”

Early last week, Chad started a series on TikTok reading his diary from 2023, many of which touched on moments with his mother.

Chad later revealed that he had received requests from some of his more than 857,200 TikTok viewers to “turn my story into a book,” but he pushed through, saying he didn’t feel he was a “very good writer” and didn’t want a ghostwriter to control his story.

“Then I remembered that I had written my own story myself,” he recalled.

“While I was at that stage of my life, I kept a diary every day,” he says in the video, presumably referring to when he lived with his mother.

“And to show you how real each day of the year was, I’m going to go back two years to 2023 and read every diary entry I wrote,” he continued.

He went on to assure his followers that he won’t share anything “too personal,” but that he will “honestly and thoroughly show you what it really is.”

In a subsequent video, Chad read out an entry referring to a phone call he had with Ruby in January 2023. “We talked for two hours about getting rid of desire. It’s a little more complicated and difficult than I expected,” Chad read out, before referring to his job as a lifeguard at the time.

In 2015, Chad’s mother posted videos of her six children on her YouTube channel and began growing a following online. There are 8 passengers. In 2022, Ruby began working with controversial family therapist Jodi Hildebrandt. The two hosted a podcast and Instagram account under the handle “Moms of Truth,” where they shared their extreme views on parenting and discipline.

Ms. Franke separated from her husband, Kevin, and moved to Ms. Hildebrandt’s home in Ivins, Utah, which allegedly resulted in Ms. Ruby leaving her two then-teenage daughters, Abby and Julie, alone and unsupervised in their Springville home for weeks.

Concerns for Franke’s children led to two calls to police in 2022, and authorities were called in August 2023 after Franke’s youngest son, then 12-year-old Russell, ran away from Hildebrandt’s home and went to a neighbor’s house for help.

Franke and Hildebrandt were arrested on charges of aggravated child abuse. Franke later pleaded guilty to four counts of aggravated child abuse and was sentenced to four to 60 years in prison for those charges.

After Ruby was arrested in 2023, Kevin filed for divorce. According to PEOPLE’s divorce agreement, signed in 2025, Kevin was given full custody of their four children.
