The Nordic post-apocalyptic survival FPS “Road to Vostok” will be released in early access on April 7th. “Solo version of Tarkov” by a veteran developer is finally released – AUTOMATON

Indie developer Antti Leinonen posted on January 31st, “The road to Vostok‘ has been announced to begin early access distribution on April 7th. The supported platform is PC (Steam). The regular price is 19.99 euros, but as part of the commemorative sale, it will be released for 25% off at 14.99 euros. In Japanese yen terms, it is expected to be around 2,000 to 3,000 yen.

Road to Vostok is a hardcore single-player survival FPS set on the Finnish-Russian border. Players will escape from the border area with Russia from the evacuation area “Area 05” in southeastern Finland and head east toward the fictional area “Vostok.”

The map of this work changes dynamically, such as time of day and season. Also, the loot will appear in different locations each time you play, so the experience will be fresh every time. During the journey to Vostok, you will be kept in multiple safe shelters. Some shelters are available from the beginning, but there also seem to be shelters that can be unlocked with keys obtained from trader tasks.

The person behind this game is indie game developer Antti Leinonen, a former Army lieutenant. Based on his experience living in the Finnish-Russian border area for many years, he was inspired by the standalone mod “STALKER Anomaly” for “STALKER: Call of Pripyat”, as well as titles such as “DayZ” and “Escape from Tarkov”.

This work, which has been repeatedly updating the demo version and sharing detailed development progress with users, has now announced that the early access release date will be April 7th, along with a new trailer.

In addition, the game engine for this work has been changed from Unity to Godot Engine due to concerns about the “Unity Runtime Fee” introduced by Unity in 2023 (Related articlesJust three months later, they completed the transition and released a new demo version using the new engine. Godot Engine is compatible with not only 2D but also 3D game production, and its photorealistic graphics and easy operation attracted the attention of many users.

By the way, the initial access period for this work is expected to be relatively long, 2 to 4 years. The product version will have about twice as much content and functionality as the initial access version. The price of the initial access version is expected to increase gradually as development progresses.
