New Delhi: Since February 1, the sun has released a series of powerful solar flares, triggering warnings from Isro and other space agencies. These agencies are closely monitoring the situation for the possibility of severe radio interference.A solar flare of this magnitude emits enormous amounts of electromagnetic radiation that reaches Earth almost instantly. Although harmless to humans on the ground, they can significantly disrupt the ionosphere and disrupt high-frequency radio communications, navigation signals, and satellite operations. Isro has over 50 operational satellites and constantly monitors them.NASA’s Space Alert confirmed that the strong flare began on February 1st. “The Sun emitted a strong solar flare that peaked at 7:13 a.m. ET on February 4,” NASA said in its latest alert. The Solar Dynamics Observatory, a US organization that constantly observes the sun, captured images of the event. The space agency reports that the event is the brightest solar flare since October 2024 and ranks among the 20 most powerful flares recorded since 1996.
