Owen also added about the recruitment business, with speculation already mounting for the next transfer window: “They probably still need one or two players. And if they lose Casemiro and maybe even Fernandes, those are two really important players. It’s all balanced with the age drop and all that. It’s unbelievable.”
“I’ve told a lot of people that even when they’re down, Manchester United always turn around. And once they turn around, it could take another year, it could take two months, someone will get it right. They’re too big a team to keep underperforming, and when they turn around they’ll accelerate like there’s no tomorrow. It can happen.”
“People think they’re miles away, but if we keep doing what we’re doing and have a good summer, it might not be miles away and it might only take us a year or two to win the league — not five, six, seven years like some people are predicting.
“It’s tempting at the moment. I would advise them to continue riding the momentum while they have it. Do they want to change managers and things now? Wow, you’re asking for trouble after all these years.”
