WASHINGTON — Top Food and Drug Administration official Vinay Prasad has rejected the opinion of the agency’s reviewers. refused to accept Moderna has filed an application for a new influenza vaccine, a STAT investigation has learned.
Three officials familiar with the matter told STAT that a team of career scientists is ready to review Moderna’s application, and that David Kaslow, director of the Office of Vaccines, has written a detailed memo explaining why the FDA should begin the review.
Andrew Nixon, a spokesman for the Department of Health and Human Services, said the review team “reached mixed conclusions.”
