The Nigeria Educational Loans Fund has announced that it has disbursed student loans totaling N392,876,550 to Delta State University, Abraka.
A statement released by NELFUND on its official X account on Sunday explained that the funding will benefit 1,854 students, providing them with critical financial support to ease their challenges and allow them to focus on their studies.
“Delta State University received a total student loan disbursement of ₦392,876,550.00 from the Nigeria Education Loan Fund (NELFUND).
“Number of beneficiaries: 1,854 students.
“This will alleviate financial hardship and support students’ academic pursuits,” the statement said.
In an official letter addressed to the Managing Director and CEO of NELFUND (shared by NELFUND with Sunday’s statement), the Registrar of DELSU, Mrs. Rufina Offio, titled “Acknowledgment for Student Loan Disbursements,” expressed her gratitude for the university’s support.
“On behalf of the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Samuel O. Asagba, I formally acknowledge that I have received student loan payments from the Nigeria Educational Loans Fund (NELFUND).
“This funding received on January 13, 2026 supports 1,854 students with a total amount of ₦392,876,550.00.
“This support will significantly reduce the financial challenges faced by beneficiaries and allow them to focus on their studies.
“We commend NELFUND for its commitment to improving access to education in Nigeria. We sincerely appreciate this support and look forward to continuing our collaboration to strengthen educational development.”
According to a report in PUNCH Online, the expenditure highlights NELFUND’s continued commitment to supporting tertiary education students across Nigeria to ensure that financial constraints do not hinder their academic aspirations.
