anthony joshua said: ready to face Long-time rival Tyson Fury KOs YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul on December 19th.
But just 10 days later, the two-time world champion was injured in a road accident in Nigeria that killed his best friends Sheena Gami and Latif ‘Rats’ Ayodele.
Joshua was largely unknown until January, when he posted a video of himself working out at the gym with the message: “Mental Strengthening Therapy”It was his first public appearance since his crash at a PFL mixed martial arts event in Dubai earlier this month.
In an interview with First Round TV last week, Joshua’s promoter Eddie Hearn said he believes the 36-year-old will return to the ring, but there are “no guarantees” at this point.
It was also unclear when Joshua would be mentally and physically fit to resume full-scale boxing training.
“Before this terrible incident happened, we had a fight in March and then we were getting ready to fight Tyson Fury,” Hearn added.
“Obviously, that’s not happening right now, and I don’t know if it’s going to happen any time soon.
“But I think in the coming weeks and months he might start to come back and dial up his training a little bit more and see how he’s doing.”
