SANTA BARBARA COUNTY, Calif. (KEYT) – Multiple lanes of southbound Highway 101 south of Fairview Avenue were closed Monday after a large eucalyptus tree fell across the roadway, cutting off all southbound lanes and northbound passing lanes.
There were no reports of injuries at the scene, the Santa Barbara County Fire Department said, and the closed northbound lanes were reopened around 11 a.m., and the two southbound lanes were reopened about 30 minutes later.
As part of its response, the California Highway Patrol diverted southbound drivers at the Fairview Avenue exit and closed the Fairview Avenue southbound entrance ramp to motor vehicle traffic.
The Santa Barbara County Fire Department added that it asked drivers to find alternate routes and use caution when driving in the area.
