Virtual Boy Switch Online Nintendo Classics FAQ
Can I play Virtual Boy games on Switch using Labo VR goggles?
yes! Contrary to Nintendo’s official opinion, Lab VR The goggles work fine, but there are a few caveats.
If you still have the Labo goggles, a Switch 1 or Switch OLED model fits perfectly inside and you can use that peripheral to play your VB library. However, Switch 2 is too large to fit on the cardboard without extensive disassembly.
Nintendo might have one Withdrew employee confirmation regarding official support — Arguably, since Labo VR is no longer widely available and doesn’t come with a proper disclaimer in any case — but the console still fits and the software displays as expected. Holding it against your face for long periods of time isn’t the most comfortable playing experience, but it’s still effective.
We’ll report back soon on how this compares to official Virtual Boy accessories.
Doesn’t your arm hurt when you press it against your face?
It’s a little less ideal for long sessions, but you also don’t want to stare at a black and white screen through cardboard goggles. Probably fine for short play sessions.
I think there’s always the option (or perhaps I’m looking into it) of removing the Joy-Cons and loading them with a cushion or something to create a more comfortable setup. Third party solution).
Get creative and wear your Switch 2 with Labo VR goggles.
If you want to peel off sticky tape, chop up your Labo, or adjust your goggles to fit your Switch 2, we think it’ll do the trick. TechnicallyLabo VR is designed for the regular, non-OLED Switch 1’s smaller screen, so Nintendo probably won’t officially approve the inclusion of OLED.
This is a sub-optimal solution, but with some tweaks I don’t see any reason why it wouldn’t work. If you’re braver than us and have had success reusing existing goggles, please let us know.
Can I play Virtual Boy games docked to my TV?
No, unfortunately the Switch I’m playing on will say it’s portable or nothing.
I get that it’s designed with 3D in mind, but it feels weird that there’s not even an option to display it on your TV.
Can I play without peripherals by just looking at one of the two images?
Yes, technically it is possible. but…
Note that even switch 2, which can increase the screen size to 1.3 times the default size (switch 1 cannot exceed 1.0 times), will display an image approximately 28 x 45 mm or 1.1 x 1.8 inches in size. Unfortunately, it’s a real stamp.
Can you cross your eyes like a “Magic Eye” picture and play without any peripherals?
Hmm, it can be done, but the problem is that the screen is extremely small. It’s not comfortable and at this size it’s quite difficult to appreciate the 3D effect properly.
You do too, but I don’t recommend doing it for long periods of time.
Can I adjust the 3D effect?
The interpupillary distance (IPD, meaning the distance between the centers of the pupils) can be adjusted from -20 to +20. This will cause the two images to appear closer together or further apart depending on your preference.
You can also resize the image, but anything less than 1.0x with switch 1 will compromise resolution, and only switch 2 will allow you to make the image larger than 1.0x (default size is 1.3x, but as mentioned above, the resulting image is still small when viewed without goggles).
You can make these adjustments at any time in-game by holding down the right stick.
at some point “Later this year”Nintendo plans to add the ability to change the hue of rendered visuals, allowing you to switch from the default red to other colors.

What is the best launch game of the lot?
Wario Land, no doubt, but we’ll be soliciting opinions on Launch Batches soon. Also keep an eye out for hardware reviews. We’ll let you know if we think the new Switch-enabled fax machine is worth the asking price.
