Sean McNally was just 59 years old when he was diagnosed with early-onset Alzheimer’s disease. As his struggles are portrayed in a new TG4 documentary, his wife Emer speaks to Arlene Harris about the impact it has had on their family and how they stay positive.

According to the Alzheimer’s Society of Ireland, there are currently more than 64,000 people living with dementia in Ireland, of whom more than 4,000 have early-onset dementia, meaning they are diagnosed before the age of 65.
This disease can have a devastating impact on both the person diagnosed and their loved ones. This is shown in a moving new TG4 documentary. Nirtle – Scriosadmor‘ will be broadcast on February 4th.
