Sarpreet Singh returns to Wellington Phoenix after European tour

Wellington Phoenix have announced the return of all-white Sarpreet Singh after seven years in Europe, including a spell at Bayern Munich.

Singh returns to New Zealand for the remainder of the 2025/26 season on loan from Serbian club FK TSC, whom he signed in the 2025 off-season.

Previously, Singh spent five years in Germany with Portuguese club União de Leiria, including a season with second-tier Bundesliga side Hansa Rostock and four years with European powerhouse Bayern Munich.

Singh mainly appeared as a substitute for Bayern, and was loaned to 1.FC Nürnberg and Jahn Regensburg.

Singh’s return to Phoenix marks a return to his first professional club, where he first signed in 2015, after an impressive spell with New Zealand’s Under-17s.

After impressing with Wellington’s reserves, Singh made his first-team debut in February 2017, two days before his 18th birthday.

Singh, who has 24 caps for New Zealand, will bring attacking flair to Phoenix’s midfield and is excited about what the club still has to offer.

“I’m very happy to be back,” Shin said. on the club website.

“The club means so much to me and I can’t wait to get started and meet everyone.

“The most important thing for me is to have fun, have fun and be in an environment where I can be free on the field.

“That’s when I play my best football and I believe Wellington provides the best environment for that.

“Phoenix have also made some good contracts and the club is working hard to reach the finals.

“I feel like the group of players we have now can do something special and I want to be a part of that.”
