Motherland’s epic spin-off ‘Amandaland’ is coming to Netflix soon

Amandaland, which has become one of the BBC’s biggest comedies in recent years, has found a second home on Netflix.

Amandaland will be released on Netflix Thursday, March 12thjoins Motherland and is currently available to watch on the streamer along with BBC iPlayer.

The spin-off series follows Amanda (Lucy Punch) as she deals with raising teenagers, the horrors of modern motherhood and a strained relationship with her mother Felicity (Joanna Lumley), all while being forced to downsize after a divorce.

The series will also introduce new characters to viewers, including Amanda’s downstairs neighbor Mal (Samuel Anderson), couple Della and Fi (Siobhan McSweeney and Rochenda Sandal), and South African property developer Johannes (Peter Serafinowicz).

The comedy series was renewed for a second season shortly after its first broadcast on BBC One, with an average audience of 5.7 million viewers and an audience of 7.4 million for the first episode, making it the BBC’s second-biggest new comedy in recent years, behind Ludwig.

Speaking about the renewal, co-writer and creator Holly Walsh said she was “overwhelmed by the response” to the first series and couldn’t wait to get started on the next series.

Meanwhile, Sharon Horgan, whose production company Merman is behind the spin-off, said: “Having such a loyal audience of this size is beyond our expectations and expectations.”

He continued: “Our amazing cast, writers, directors and production team have worked so hard on this show, so it’s fantastic to see their hard work rewarded. A special thank you to Lucy, our most extraordinary frontwoman, and to the BBC, who believed in the idea of ​​Amandaland from the off.”
