US figure skater Amber Glenn responds to Madonna’s message ahead of short program

American figure skater Amber Glenn – 1 of 3blade angelsThe Star-Spangled Banner contestant in Milan was shocked to receive a special message from musical icon Madonna, who will be soundtracking this year’s Winter Olympics short program.

inside the clip shared by On NBC’s On Her Turf, Glenn responded to a surprise video clip from Madonna herself, revealing that she had seen the skater perform.

“I have to say, I was shocked by it. You’re an amazing skater,” Madonna said in the video. Glenn asked, covering his mouth in surprise.

“I’m shaking,” Glenn said.

Madonna also emphasized in the video that Glenn, the first openly queer woman to represent Team USA in women’s figure skating, is “so strong, so beautiful” and “so brave,” adding that she can’t imagine the skater not winning at the Olympics.

“So I just want to say, good luck. Let’s go get that money,” concluded the pop icon, who described Glenn as:buddy on ice” he posted on his Instagram Story last week.

“I’m sorry, I’m in shock, I’m in complete shock. Oh my god! Of course I’m shaking. Oh my god!” Glenn exclaimed after seeing Madonna’s video message.

She then directly mentioned the music icon in the NBC clip. “Thank you so much, Queen. Thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you. You are beautiful, stunning, amazing, and you are an eternal icon and legend, and thank you for supporting athletes in their artistic adventures, and I hope that I can do this song justice,” the skater exclaimed.

Glenn, along with U.S. teammates Alisa Liu and Isabeau Levitt, hope to win women’s singles gold in Tuesday’s short program.

Competition is scheduled to begin on the ice at 12:45 p.m. ET.
