Arsenal, latest injury for Manchester United, Mikel Arteta ‘remarkable’ addition after Inter Milan

Arsenal need to address injury concerns after 3-1 win over Inter Milan in the Champions League

Arsenal are still expected to deal with players missing through injury ahead of their clash with Manchester United. The Gunners head into their game against the Red Devils on Tuesday night following a 3-1 win over Inter Milan in the Champions League.

Gabriel Jesus was named in the starting XI for the trip to San Siro by manager Mikel Arteta and scored two goals in the first half to lead Arsenal to victory.

Victor Goqueres came off the bench for Arsenal and scored the third goal of the game in the second half, and both players have ambitions of starting against United at the weekend.

Arteta will continue to have to deal with the number of players out through injury when Arsenal face the Red Devils in the Premier League on Sunday.

Riccardo Calafioli, Piero Hincapie and Max Daumann each missed Arsenal’s win against Inter due to injury, which Arteta confirmed in his pre-match press conference earlier this week.

Cristian Mosquera made his long-awaited return to Arsenal’s starting line-up against Inter, playing 75 minutes before being replaced by Gabriel Magalhães.

The summer signing missed 11 games with an ankle injury, but returned to the matchday squad for last weekend’s draw with Nottingham Forest, where he did not feature.

Arteta spoke about Mosquela’s return from injury and praised Arsenal’s medical staff for making Mosquela available for the game against Inter.

After the final whistle at San Siro, Arteta told Amazon Prime: “The medical situation is tough and the physiotherapists did their best all day long, because we know we are short on the back line,” adding: “It’s amazing.”

Arteta used all five substitutes in Arsenal’s win over Inter, with Julian Timber, Ebelesi Eze, Leandro Trossard, Mosquela and Jesus all leaving the pitch, none due to injury concerns.

As a result, Arsenal will hope to only have to deal with injuries to Calafioli, Hincapie and Dauman ahead of this weekend’s game against United.
