Telangana/Hyderabad: Gunmen open fire and rob cloth traders outside SBI branch in Koti

Panic spread in Koti on Saturday morning (January 31, 2026) after unidentified assailants opened fire on a 26-year-old cloth trader near the State Bank of India headquarters and fled with Rs 600,000 in cash. Sultan Bazaar police have filed a case.

The incident was reported around 7 am when the victim, identified as Rinshad, a resident of Nampally, reached the ATM to deposit money. Sultan Bazaar Inspector K. Narasimha said a group of men chased the man as he approached the kiosk, opened fire on him, then snatched the cash and fled the scene.

Rinshad was shot in the leg and was immediately taken to a nearby hospital. His condition is said to be stable.

Police immediately arrived at the scene and cordoned off the area. Officers began examining surveillance camera footage from the bank premises and surrounding facilities in an attempt to identify and trace the suspect. Preliminary investigation suggests the perpetrator may be acquainted with the victim.

A case has been registered and further investigation is underway.
