Bulls prospect Josh Guidy returns Thursday after missing 11 games

CHICAGO — Guard Josh Guidi is nearly ready to return to action for the Chicago Bulls after being sidelined for the past three weeks with a strained left hamstring, coach Billy Donovan said Tuesday.

Donovan said before the game against the Los Angeles Clippers that Guidi could return Thursday in Minnesota. The Australian missed 11 games in a row.

“I feel pretty good,” Donovan said. “I think they’re just waiting to hear from the doctors what they want to do and how Josh is feeling. But the information I’ve gotten from Josh from the doctors is that he’s been on track with no setbacks.”

Guidi has not played since a loss to New Orleans on Dec. 31. In that game, he cautiously left the court one minute into the second half.

Guidi performed at an All-Star level in his second season in Chicago since being traded from Oklahoma City. He averaged a team-high 19.2 points, 8.9 rebounds and nine assists, and has seven triple-doubles.

“I don’t know what the criteria is for missed games and things like that, but I think you can certainly make an argument that he was playing at that level before he got injured, which should be considered,” Donovan said.

The Bulls were ninth in the Eastern Conference with a 20-22 record entering Tuesday’s game. Forward Patrick Williams is out with a sprained right ankle and continues to receive daily medical treatment.
