An eyewitness, who did not want to be named, told news agency ANI that the plane carrying Pawar and four others crashed just before the runway at Baramati airport.

She said local residents could see charred bodies among the plane’s dismembered wreckage after rescue workers extinguished the fire.

Police then asked local residents for blankets to cover the body, she added.

We are still awaiting official word on the cause of the crash.
