In the Round of 16 of the Champions League, the eight playoff winners will compete against the top eight teams in the league.

Similar to the playoffs, a team’s final position in the league stage will influence seeding into the last 16, with seeded teams (those finishing in the top eight of the league) being given the advantage of playing the second leg at home.

This season marks the first time that a team’s league position will also influence seeding for the quarterfinals and semifinals.

The teams ranked 1st through 4th at the end of the league phase will be seeded for the quarterfinals, giving them home advantage in the second leg of the quarterfinal tie.

The league leaders and runners-up will also be seeded for the semi-finals, with the privilege of playing the second leg of the semi-final at home if they reach that stage.

If a seeded team does not advance to the quarterfinals or semifinals, the team that eliminated it will inherit the seeding position.
