Commitment | Notre Dame Lands Oregon Transfer DL Thionne Gray

Notre Dame entered the day with one of the nation’s top transfer portal numbers, but it just got even more impressive.

Marcus Freeman and the Irish acquired former Oregon State defensive lineman Tion Gray, acquiring the second intelligence in the portal class.

The 6-foot-6, 336-pounder played in 17 games for the Ducks, including 13 in 2025.

After redshirting as a freshman, Gray recorded 18 tackles and 2.0 tackles for loss on 232 snaps last fall.

The St. Louis native immediately filled a hole on Notre Dame’s roster while filling a spot up the middle that hasn’t existed for an Irishman in years.

Pitt transfer Francis Belew would give Notre Dame an explosive playmaker in the middle, while Gray would be a space eater with the ability to free up one of the deepest linebacker corps in the country.

Gray was the No. 3 defensive lineman and No. 17 overall player in 247 Sports’ transfer portal.
