Traveling with President Trump
I just landed on Air Force One at the end of a four-day trip to Florida. The trip ended with President Trump attending the Indiana-Miami National College Football Championship.
We didn’t see much of him at the fight, but we did catch a brief glimpse of him in the stadium box with UFC president Dana White, his daughter Ivanka, and a few other family members. Secretary of State Marco Rubio also attended.
But we briefly caught up with him at Palm Beach International Airport, where he strode up to us alongside Secretary of the Interior Doug Burgum.
President Trump was clearly in a jovial mood, and after his greeting several family members came over and wordlessly praised the players tonight and the state of the economy.
He was then bombarded with questions, including some about Greenland.
“We have to have it,” he said. “They are [Denmark] You can’t protect it. ”
He also insisted that NATO allies would “not really push back” on his claims to the island, and dismissed European deployments to the island as “not a military force.”
“NATO has been warning Denmark for 20 years… They have been warning Denmark about the Russian threat,” he said. “It’s not just Russia, it’s China too.”
“Let’s see what happens,” he added. “Let’s put it this way: It’s going to be an interesting Davos meeting.”
