“This was a difficult decision and follows a review of each country’s unique circumstances and a focus on investing where we see the clearest path to sustainable scale and long-term leadership.”
“Over the past 11 years, we are proud to have helped shape food delivery in Singapore, giving consumers access to a wide range of restaurant and grocery partners,” said Deliveroo chief executive Miki Khushi, who also heads DoorDash International.
“Thank you to all of our employees, customers, partners and riders who have been on this journey with us and supported us throughout this journey.”
Deliveroo said it will work closely with local teams to support customers, partners and riders through the transition. This platform is valid until March 4th.
Delirue Singapore said in an email to customers that it had made the “difficult decision” to wind down its Singapore operations.
“This was not an easy decision, nor was it taken lightly. Our focus has always been on delivering great value to our customers, partners and riders.
“We are proud of what we have achieved over the past 11 years in Singapore.” Deliveroo said customers can use their outstanding gift cards and unused credits until 3pm on March 4.
In an announcement published online on February 25, the company said Deliveroo customers can continue to have their orders delivered until 3pm on March 4.
Fees will be processed normally on March 4th and any outstanding fees or incentives will be paid on March 10th.
The Straits Times has contacted Deliveroo for further details.
DoorDash, which owns Deliveroo and another distribution platform Wolt, announced on February 25 that it would also exit Qatar, Japan and Uzbekistan.
Deliveroo has appointed Kroll as liquidator to manage the closure of its Singapore operations.
Deliveroo patrons received a push notification informing them of the last day of service.
