Exclusive | Precious Achiuwa talks about the Knicks’ lament while enjoying the King’s “freedom”

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — Precious Achiuwa, who has relocated across the country to a role that better suits her style of play, said it’s unfair to judge his fit on the Knicks’ bench last season, when he ranked last in both scoring and minutes played.

“I don’t think the bench was bad. You can never say it’s bad unless you play on the bench. How do you know?” Achiuwa, who signed with the Kings in November, said in an interview with the Post.

Achiuwa, 26, was a major contributor to the Knicks after being traded to the Knicks in 2023, playing most minutes at power forward after Julius Randle suffered a shoulder injury. The highlight was Achiuwa’s 17 midseason games in which he averaged 12.7 points and 9.8 rebounds in 37 minutes. The garden poured out gratitude.

Achiuwa was then re-signed for $6 million in the summer of 2024, but suffered a hamstring strain during the preseason, was in and out of Tom Thibodeau’s rotation, and was almost completely left out for the playoffs.
