Donald Trump has defiantly said Iran’s leaders must accept “unconditional surrender.”
The goal marks another shift in the US president’s goals for the conflict heading into the week.
Last week, Trump said the goal was to destroy Iran’s missiles and its navy, prevent the regime from funding “terrorist armies” and prevent Tehran from building a nuclear weapon.
The United States has claimed that the attacks on Iran have significantly reduced the level of missiles launched from that country.
Meanwhile, Israeli bombing of Lebanon continues as it intensifies attacks against the Iranian-funded Hezbollah militant group.
A dramatic image has emerged from Beirut of a commercial airliner taking off at the same time as an apparent Israeli missile hits a nearby suburb.
